Abstract

Social isolation among elderly populations has emerged as a significant public health concern, particularly in rapidly aging societies. This study explores how community empowerment through intergenerational dialogue programs can effectively reduce social isolation among older adults. The research examines the theoretical foundations, implementation strategies, and outcomes of intergenerational programming within community-based frameworks. Through comprehensive analysis of existing literature and program evaluations, this study demonstrates that structured intergenerational dialogue initiatives create meaningful connections between older adults and younger generations, fostering mutual understanding and reducing feelings of loneliness. The findings suggest that community-driven intergenerational programs not only address social isolation but also promote knowledge transfer, cultural preservation, and enhanced community cohesion. These programs demonstrate particular effectiveness when implemented with proper community engagement, structured activities, and sustained institutional support.
