Abstract

The growing demand for sustainable energy solutions has intensified interest in tidal energy as a reliable renewable resource for coastal communities worldwide. This study investigates the development and implementation of compact tidal turbine designs specifically engineered for small-scale coastal applications. Through comprehensive analysis of turbine efficiency, environmental impact, and economic feasibility, this research demonstrates how innovative compact turbine technologies can provide consistent energy generation while minimizing ecological disruption in sensitive coastal environments. The findings reveal that optimized compact tidal turbines can achieve energy conversion efficiencies of up to 42% while reducing installation footprints by 60% compared to traditional large-scale tidal systems. This study contributes to the advancement of distributed tidal energy technologies and provides practical insights for coastal communities seeking sustainable energy independence through locally-generated renewable power sources.
